“Where is my Faith—even deep down right in there is nothing, but emptiness & darkness—My God—how painful is this unknown pain—I have no Faith—I dare not utter the words & thoughts that crowd in my heart — & make me suffer untold agony.”
The above is a quote from a personal letter that Mother Theresa wrote to a friend. Yes that Mother Theresa. The winner of the Nobel peace prize, lived in poverty most of her life to serve the poor and dying, and oh yeah she is a candidate for sainthood.
I have been going through what I refer to as a “spiritual dry spell” in my life, and that quote has given me a lot of comfort. Mother Theresa’s “dry spell” lasted 40+ years. Yet she persisted and she continued to run the race for the glory of God, and God continued to bless and use her during that period in her life.
My plan is to keep on putting one foot in front of the other. I will read my Bible and pray and serve and try to draw closer to God. There is truth in that old saying that “Right feelings follow right actions.” I know I probably won’t be named a saint J, but hopefully I can live a life that will give God glory.
..let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,
